a filter for brutality, between innocence and evil
A 16mm silence film depicting the childish act of cutting open a white stuffed rabbit toy. The colourful and dreamy visual in-camera effects contrast sharply with the grotesque action and its accompanying subtitles. It serves as a filter for brutality, between innocence and evil.
The Mandarin subtitles are drawn from the artist's ongoing prose collection Your Cat on My Lamp (2017-Current). The work attempts to capture a surreal documentary of the internal psyche. The subtitles can be read both as poems and non-poems, a dichotomy of polar qualities that ambiguously displays specific forms of pain and struggle.
